The Master by Research (MRes) is a one-year postgraduate program with a strong research emphasis, offered jointly by the Institute of Cancer Therapeutics and the Faculty of Life Sciences. This program prepares students for professional scientific careers or PhD studies through intensive laboratory-based training. Participants undertake a six-month research project to develop practical skills while conducting innovative, impactful research. The program emphasizes research-driven education, transforming classrooms and laboratories into hubs for knowledge creation and application. Its curriculum follows a 'spiral learning' model, progressively building and reinforcing essential skills and knowledge throughout the course. Assessment methods align with both this spiral approach and the research-focused teaching philosophy, while also developing the professional competencies required for success in scientific and academic careers.
