The Master by Research (MRes) is a one-year postgraduate program focused on research, offered jointly by the Institute of Cancer Therapeutics and the Faculty of Life Sciences. This program prepares students for careers as professional scientists or for PhD studies, emphasizing hands-on laboratory research experience. Through a six-month research project, participants gain practical skills while conducting innovative research with tangible real-world applications. The program follows a research-driven learning model, where both classrooms and laboratories serve as spaces for creating and applying new knowledge. Its curriculum employs a 'spiral learning' approach, progressively building and reinforcing essential skills, knowledge, and competencies throughout the course. The assessment methods align with both the spiral curriculum and research-focused learning principles, while also developing the professional abilities required for careers in scientific and academic fields.
