If you're fascinated by different historical eras and methodologies, or deeply passionate about a specific aspect of history, our new MA History program provides the adaptability to focus on your preferred subjects.
This History MA allows you to cultivate specialized knowledge across multiple disciplines where our History Department excels, spanning Medieval Studies, Early Modern History, Global History, Contemporary History, and Modern British Studies.
You can choose to concentrate on a specific historical track, completing coursework and your dissertation within that specialized field. Current specialization options include:
Modern and Contemporary History track
Global History track
Medieval and Early Modern History track
All candidates apply to the general MA History program. Specialization decisions aren't required during application - you'll select your preferred track during module selection after program admission, ensuring maximum flexibility in your postgraduate studies.

Qualification Requirements
You will need an Honours degree, normally in any humanities or social science discipline such as History, Politics, Cultural Studies, or Literature, and normally of an upper second-class standard. Relevant equivalent study or professional experience can also be considered for entry, for the MA, PGDip, and PGCert.

IELTS 6.5 with no less than 6.0 in any band is equivalent to:
