At Birmingham, palaeoclimate studies combine sedimentology, palaeontology, geochemistry, and climate modeling to develop comprehensive insights into environmental transformations across past, present, and future timescales.

Our work encompasses investigations ranging from Proterozoic 'snowball earth' phenomena to sophisticated Holocene climate simulations. Key focus areas involve examining Cenozoic climate shifts, particularly the relationships between atmospheric CO2 levels, temperature variations, and oceanic chemistry.
