This program equips you to critically analyze the artistic, cultural, social, and political frameworks that shape art creation and display, as well as the interpretations different viewers bring to artworks. The curriculum covers global art, architecture, and visual culture spanning medieval to modern periods, employing methodologies including social art history, feminist theory, queer studies, and decolonial approaches.

A key component involves direct engagement with original artworks. You'll have privileged access to exceptional collections both on campus and at numerous regional museums and galleries.
