The curriculum shapes participants into artist-educators with thorough comprehension of art education frameworks, while expanding their professional awareness regarding contemporary educational priorities like sustainability initiatives, technological integration, craft-based instruction, foundational knowledge frameworks, art historical contexts, analytical reasoning, and fundamental teaching methodologies including lesson design and evaluation. Flexible part-time enrollment over two years accommodates diverse schedules and responsibilities.What will you studyOur Secondary Geography PGCE program provides comprehensive training to teach geography at the secondary level. The Curriculum Specialist (Secondary Geography) module examines contemporary theories and research about geographical education through interactive sessions. Course topics may encompass Tourism Studies, Climate Science, Economic Development, Urban Studies, Agricultural Systems, Ethical Trade, Socioeconomic Disparities, Hydrological Systems, Environmental Risks, among others.Program discussions will address curricular content selection and instructional approaches for fundamental geographical competencies including Global Studies, Data Analysis, Cartographic Techniques, Geographic Information Systems, Regional Case Studies, and Outdoor Education. Participants receive guidance implementing these concepts innovatively in classroom settings through cooperative lesson design, weekly reflective practice, and continuous assessment.This aligns with our Evidence-Informed Curriculum Specialist component, which develops awareness of current geographical education trends and their practical applications. Through our School Experience 1 placement, participants gain hands-on practice designing and conducting lessons informed by classroom observations.Professional Outcomes: Graduates qualify for QTS certification, preparing them for geography teaching positions in secondary institutions. Alumni frequently secure rewarding roles in regional schools.Beyond QTS accreditation, the program offers up to 60 postgraduate credits, creating pathways for advanced study including master's, doctoral, and education doctorate programs.
2.2 honours degree or equivalent in a related subject area GCSE grade 4 English (or a C) GCSE grade 4 Maths. Safeguarding checks, including an Enhanced DBS, and Occupational Health check are required. IELTS overall score of 6.0 with minimum 5.5 in each element; TOEFL iBT - Listening: 17, Reading: 18, Speaking: 20, Writing: 17.
