The MSc Research Methods is an intensive master's program tailored for aspiring PhD candidates and those pursuing research careers. This program emphasizes advanced research skill development alongside specialized studies in human geography. It meets the research training criteria for two ESRC funding opportunities managed by the North West Social Science Doctoral Training Partnership (NWSSDTP): the standard three-year PhD scholarship (known as "3") and the extended four-year scholarship covering both a qualifying master's and PhD (referred to as "13"). This program serves as excellent preparation for applicants seeking either NWSSDTP ESRC funding or School of Environment, Education and Development scholarships. All NWSSDTP-recognized master's programs must fulfill ESRC's foundational research training standards. Manchester offers an exceptional setting for geographical studies. As the birthplace of industrialization that has transformed into a dynamic modern city surrounded by three National Parks, Manchester's urban landscape and natural surroundings provide valuable fieldwork opportunities throughout your studies.
