A part-time two-year study option is available for those balancing other responsibilities.What you'll learnOur Secondary Drama PGCE program provides comprehensive training to teach drama at the secondary level effectively. The Drama Curriculum Specialist pathway cultivates adaptable, innovative, and socially-conscious educators committed to lifelong professional growth. You'll study influential theatre practitioners and key curriculum components like Drama Education Fundamentals and Physical Theatre basics. The program covers teaching methodologies for scripts and texts, including Shakespeare instruction, directing techniques, devised theatre, international performance traditions, and critical analysis. Through collaborative lesson planning, peer teaching exercises, and regular evaluations, you'll refine your instructional practice.The Evidence-Informed Curriculum Specialist module deepens your understanding of contemporary drama education contexts and their practical applications. A school placement component allows you to design and deliver lesson sequences based on observations and learning from our School Experience 1 module. You'll implement innovative teaching approaches while mastering school behavior management systems. In School Experience 2, you'll expand these skills, learning to modify instruction, utilize assessments effectively, and support student progression. This program offers both full-time (one-year) and part-time (two-year) study options.Career prospectsUpon completion, you'll qualify for Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), preparing you for secondary drama teaching positions. Our graduates frequently secure rewarding roles in local schools.
