In the MA Photography program, you'll receive guidance to explore how photographic images are produced, distributed, interpreted, analyzed, and comprehended by choosing one of three specializations: Expanded Practice, Curation, or Publishing. Through this MA Photography course, you'll examine the processes behind image creation, circulation, reception, research, and interpretation by selecting from three pathways:
Expanded Practice: Cultivate a modern photographic art practice through research-driven projects involving visual experimentation and critical analysis across diverse mediums including still/moving images, CGI, 3D scanning/modeling, and algorithmic imagery. With chances to produce work for various platforms like galleries, public installations, publications, AR/VR, and digital spaces, you'll investigate how the exponential global growth of imagery influences photography's distribution, application, and perception - examining how this shapes new theoretical perspectives. You'll study photography's intersections with social, racial, and environmental concerns while developing ethical methodologies that can drive positive change. Collaborative opportunities with students in other pathways for exhibitions and publications will also be available.
