MA Performance: Screen empowers you to shape your artistic voice and approach as an independent filmmaker and screen-based performance creator. Central Saint Martins' Performance program adopts an avant-garde, cross-disciplinary, and collaborative methodology to performance creation. The resulting work is politically engaged, boundary-pushing, and welcoming to all. It spans diverse forms including live performance, film, critical discourse, community-focused projects, choreography, stage design, dramatic composition, performance writing, animation, and immersive technologies.
MA Performance: Screen provides an innovative, flexible environment for investigating the intersection of performance and moving image through critical analysis and hands-on studio work. Participants are urged to position their creations within broader cultural, political, and economic contexts while examining how imagery is created, experienced, and interpreted. Designed for hybrid practitioners working across moving image and performance, the course fosters emerging practices in performance art, experimental cinema, participatory projects, documentary work, community filmmaking, and digital art to pioneer novel creative processes and artistic results.
