Our MA in Theatre and Performance Practice immerses you in dual roles as both performer/creator and theatre professional. You'll examine and enhance your understanding of theatrical elements like text, music, spatial dynamics, and physical expression. The program offers multiple perspectives on creative processes, acting techniques, and embodiment through: crafting original pieces using diverse theatrical forms, reimagining existing materials with dramatic possibilities, and exploring characterization methods within wider social, political, cultural, and geographic frameworks. Alongside refining your practical theatre skills, you'll study studio preparation techniques, from workshop leadership to rehearsal direction, culminating in organizing and staging performances. This course prepares you to establish or grow your theatre career as an autonomous practitioner, capable of both producing original work and applying your expertise to related fields like theatrical research, event curation, or workshop instruction.
