East 15 Acting School's MA/MFA Acting (International) offers an intensive, full-time professional training program tailored for international students. The curriculum focuses on developing and combining essential acting techniques through various disciplines. Students engage in acting workshops, Laban and Feldenkrais movement studies, somatic practices, Grotowski-inspired exercises, vocal training, articulation, Received Pronunciation, contextual studies, and singing. The program builds upon established traditions, particularly Stanislavski's legacy, while incorporating East 15's distinctive approach that evolved from Joan Littlewood's groundbreaking Theatre Workshop, one of Britain's most significant 20th-century theater companies.
The MA program spans 12 months of full-time study, while the MFA extends over 20 months. During the initial year, MA and MFA candidates share most coursework.
Both degree tracks follow identical modules in their first year. MFA students dedicate their second year to repertory company work, producing fully staged performances each term before completing either a written thesis or practical final project.
This comprehensive training equips graduates with professional skills and methodologies for global theater careers. Alumni have achieved success across multiple continents, earning recognition in the US, China, Norway, South Korea, and beyond. Many have established thriving theater companies like New York's LubDub Theatre, while others have seen their plays produced in major cities worldwide. MFA graduates also pursue academic careers, teaching at universities throughout North America, South Korea, and other international locations.
