The MA in Fashion Communication: Fashion Journalism program is designed for aspiring writers and editors looking to redefine their industry's future. In recent years, fashion's influence has expanded significantly across creative sectors and artistic disciplines. Simultaneously, technological advancements have revolutionized how the fashion world engages with audiences. As the industry undergoes transformation, critically examining emerging media's effects and understanding evolving consumer demands has become crucial.
Central Saint Martins' MA Fashion Communication program reflects these fundamental shifts.
Students investigate the field through both innovative digital platforms and conventional communication methods. The curriculum equips participants with professional competencies to become tomorrow's fashion theorists, critics, writers, journalists, visual storytellers, and communication specialists. We encourage creative experimentation with production platforms while preparing students to navigate dynamic global communication networks.
The program offers three specialized tracks. Fashion Image caters to visionary creatives, while Fashion Histories and Theories provides scholarly examination of fashion. The Fashion Journalism pathway specifically serves writers and editors, emphasizing diverse fashion writing formats across various media. Participants will practice traditional print journalism alongside digital content creation for platforms like websites, e-commerce, newsletters, and social media.
Although most instruction focuses on each student's chosen specialization, collaborative projects with other pathways mirror the fashion industry's interdisciplinary nature. All tracks combine practical industry knowledge with theoretical foundations, ensuring graduates engage with contemporary discourse in their field.
Duration: One year full-time (45 weeks)
