The Department of Economics forms one of three core disciplines within the Business School. It oversees economic research initiatives and manages undergraduate economics education. With more than 20 faculty members, plus research fellows, emeritus professors, and honorary staff, the department maintains a strong reputation in applied economics research, specializing in labor and energy economics. Additional research focuses include:

The department maintains particularly close collaborations with the Health Economics Research Unit, recognized as one of Europe's premier health economics institutions.
