Our five-year PhD program includes two years of structured coursework followed by three years of independent research (with an optional sixth year for thesis completion).
The initial year matches an MSc in Economics, and applicants holding an equivalent qualification with at least a 2:1 grade may qualify for direct entry into the second year. Qualification Requirements
Economics degree training should be equivalent to the training given at the University of Manchester. Applicants with degree in quantitative fields other than economics will be considered on a case by case basis. Candidates whose first language is not English require one of the following certificates: IELTS 7, including 7 in writing and with no further score below 6.5; TOEFL IBT 103 with 28 in writing and no further score below 25 in each section.
