The Professional Graduate Diploma in Education (Secondary) is a 36-week full-time program accredited by Scotland's General Teaching Council. For those pursuing a meaningful career where you can create real impact, our PGDE courses provide a pathway to earn a teaching qualification in just one academic year.

At the University of Aberdeen, our forward-thinking PGDE Secondary program unites students from diverse subject areas to learn collaboratively, exchange perspectives, and discuss contemporary secondary education topics.
Designed to prepare inclusive educators, the program equips graduates with innovative teaching methods to meet 21st-century classroom challenges while promoting teamwork. The full-time PGDE spans 36 weeks, divided equally between campus study and practical placements within our partner school districts.

A degree from a higher education institution in the United Kingdom (including Open University), or a degree of an equivalent standard from an institution outside the United Kingdom. The degree should minimally contain 80 SCQF credit points relevant to the teaching qualification or qualifications being studied. 40 of the credit points must have been studied at SCQF level 8 or above
