During this 12-month Master's degree, you'll examine heritage institutions across Scotland and beyond, analyzing the social, political, and regulatory contexts that shape today's cultural heritage field.
Designed for students from diverse academic backgrounds, this MSc offers comprehensive training in both theoretical and practical aspects of cultural heritage, preparing graduates for roles in heritage agencies, research units, museums, government bodies, and educational institutions.
The Archaeology Department maintains strong partnerships with numerous local, national, and international museums, government agencies, and heritage organizations. Our northeast Scotland location offers convenient access to historic sites where students engage in fieldwork, participating in dynamic discussions and practical activities that highlight critical heritage issues.
Through real-world scenarios, you'll develop sector-specific competencies by working alongside heritage professionals. The curriculum includes optional work placements and community heritage projects, providing valuable practical experience.
