This one-of-a-kind program mirrors the distinctive research emphasis of Aberdeen's Archaeology Department. Students cultivate specialized research capabilities to examine artifacts and cultural heritage across the extreme northern latitudes - encompassing Scotland, the North Atlantic, Nordic and Baltic nations, northern Russia, and circumpolar territories spanning Siberia, the North Pacific, and Arctic North America.

Focusing on settlement patterns, cultural exchange, daily life, and belief systems, each graduate gains comprehensive expertise in northern archaeological theories and methodologies, establishing a strong basis for advanced study or professional careers.

Furthermore, all students develop specialized proficiency in a selected geographic or historical concentration, choosing from diverse options spanning the entire northern region.

The program serves as excellent preparation for doctoral research, professional certification, or personal enrichment.
