The Bachelor of Science Honours in Social Work is a professional certification that fulfills the Northern Ireland Social Care Council's standards. This social work training program combines academic coursework with hands-on professional practice, totaling 185 days of practical experience throughout the degree. Students complete two intensive placements (85 days and 100 days respectively), working full-time with experienced social workers while being guided and evaluated by a Practice Teacher. Diverse placement options are offered through collaborations with Health and Social Care Trusts and various voluntary and statutory organizations, all playing a vital role in shaping and implementing the curriculum.

This accelerated degree program is structured around applicants' graduate-level competencies to ensure they can successfully meet the rigorous demands of this intensive learning pathway.

This 2 year accelerated Social Work course is for relevant graduates only and is not open to school leavers. Applicants must be graduates with at least a second class honours degree in a cognate area.

A relevant degree (second class lower division or higher) is deemed to be an Honours degree, where at least 33% of the programme passed at Honours level comprises one or more of the following: Sociology, Psychology, Social Policy/Social Administration, Law, Teaching, Nursing, Community Work, Youth Work, Early Childhood Studies and other cognate subjects at the discretion of the programme provider.

Applicants with a third class honours degree are not considered.

Applicants who do not have a cognate degree should apply to the three year course.

GCSE
For full-time study, you must satisfy the General Entrance Requirements for admission to a first degree course and hold a GCSE pass at Grade C/4 or above in English Language and hold a GCSE pass at Grade C/4 or above in Mathematics.

Level 2 Certificate in Essential Skills Communication or Communication module (Level 2), passed at 40% in Access programme will be accepted as equivalent to GCSE English.

Level 2 Certificate in Essential Skills Application of Number or Maths module (Level 2), passed at 40% in Access programme or successful completion of NICATS Mathematics as part of the pre-2021 Access Diploma will be accepted as equivalent to GCSE Mathematics.

IELTS 6.0 with no band score less than 5.5., TOEFL iBT - 80 with a minimum L - 17 R - 18 S - 20 W - 17, PTE Academic - 55 (with min. of 51 in each part)
