The University of Northampton's Bachelor of Arts in Social Work program prepares students with the essential knowledge, abilities, and ethical foundations needed for diverse social work environments. Instruction is provided by accredited social work educators who maintain active research profiles and regularly publish, consult, and engage in direct practice.
Social Workers support society's most vulnerable individuals during critical moments of crisis. Upon completing this degree, graduates will meet the Professional Capabilities Framework and Social Work England's (SWE) Professional Standards requirements, qualifying them to apply for SWE registration.
Practical experience is mandatory for degree completion, with students completing 200 days of applied learning (combining placements and skills development) throughout the program. Placement-based learning occurs in concentrated periods across the curriculum, including 30 days of hands-on skills training at level four (on campus), 70 placement days at level five, and 100 placement days at level six.
