The Language and Linguistics program provides students with core understanding of linguistic theory and its practical uses. Key topics covered are phonetics, word structure, sentence formation, meaning interpretation, language in context, language evolution, learning processes, and conversation analysis. Instruction combines lectures and seminars, focusing extensively on hands-on work with real language samples. A crucial aspect involves training students to gather and examine linguistic data independently, a skill cultivated starting in their first term. Self-directed learning is vital, with academic techniques for independent research being honed throughout the three-year program. Evaluation includes linguistic data tasks, written papers, research projects, and traditional exams. Our faculty consists of globally recognized linguistics scholars trained at leading European and American institutions.
Our curriculum offers adaptable study options, enabling students to pair Language & Linguistics with Counselling Studies. This combination merges linguistic exploration with professional training where language proficiency plays a pivotal role.
