The food and beverage production industry (FDMP) plays a crucial role in the UK's economic landscape. As the nation's biggest manufacturing segment, it represents 20% of total manufacturing output and provides jobs for 468,000 individuals. The broader food sector, encompassing the entire supply chain from production to consumption, generates more than £120 billion annually and employs 4.1 million workers - approximately 13% of the UK's total workforce. Post-Brexit immigration changes and pandemic impacts have exacerbated the industry's persistent labor shortages. According to the UK Commission for Employment and Skills, the FDMP sector requires 140,000 new workers by 2024.
