At Swansea University, Sport and Exercise Science research is conducted through the Applied Sports, Technology, Exercise and Medicine (A-STEM) research center. Our research focuses on three key domains: Elite Sports Performance, Exercise Medicine and Health, and Sports Ethics, Integrity and Governance. Swansea University's dynamic research environment offers an exceptional foundation for PhD or MPhil studies in Sports Science. Recent doctoral projects have explored diverse topics such as: ischemic preconditioning techniques for elite athlete training and recovery, creating support programs for parents of young elite athletes, innovative 3D printing approaches to assess children's physical activity, measuring physical activity's effect on quality of life in youth with cystic fibrosis, fairness and justice theories in tennis, enhancing motivation in exercise-based video games through psychological needs, and assessing cardiovascular disease and type 2 diabetes risks in workplace environments.
