The MSc by Research in Glaciology offers a year-long personalized research program designed for both personal and professional growth. Your glaciology study will be developed through engagement in seminars, workshops, lab work, and field expeditions, alongside active participation in the Swansea Glaciology Group.
You'll play a role in our research initiatives while mastering techniques like computer modeling, satellite remote sensing, and geophysical or geological field methods. Swansea's glaciology researchers operate across Arctic, Antarctic, and other ice-covered areas to enhance knowledge of:

Ice movement phenomena including iceberg formation and subglacial processes affecting ice streams, outlet glaciers, and surging glaciers,
The interplay between ice sheets, the solid earth, oceans, and atmosphere,
Historical reconstruction and future forecasting of glacier, permafrost, and snow dynamics,
The cryosphere's historical and projected impact on rising sea levels
