The MA by Research in Egyptology allows you to pursue a personalized research project driven by your academic interests. This program spans one year for full-time students or two years for part-time study, serving as either a standalone research culmination after coursework or preparation for advanced studies like a PhD.
You'll produce a 40,000-word thesis showcasing original findings that advance the field, followed by an oral defense (viva voce examination).
Research topics may cover ancient Egyptian civilization, including its history, archaeology, religious practices, linguistic studies (from hieroglyphs to demotic scripts and Graeco-Roman temple texts), literature, and cultural developments during Ptolemaic and Roman eras.
Our Park Campus houses the exceptional Egypt Centre, located near the School of Culture and Communication.
The program cultivates essential research methodologies for advanced Egyptological work, supplemented by campus skills workshops. You'll gain presentation experience through departmental seminars and the School's Postgraduate conference, sharing your work with peers and faculty.
