The preparatory year offers an engaging gateway to university-level learning, introducing students to humanities and social sciences before advancing to the complete degree curriculum. This pathway proves particularly valuable for those seeking additional academic preparation after secondary education or returning to studies after a break.
Students will examine America's historical narrative, literary works, governance systems, and cultural expressions, spanning from early settlements to contemporary administrations.
The program allows customization based on personal interests, whether in mainstream American culture or social activism. Participants may also opt for a year or term abroad in the United States, gaining direct experience with their subject matter.

Qualification Requirements

Our standard entry requirement is CDD-DDD at A-level or equivalent. We require a minimum of 5 passes at Grade A-C, including Welsh/English Language. Entry requirements are flexible and all offers are made following a review of the application form, predicted/achieved grades and subjects, the reference and personal statement. The course is also a widening access programme and has been developed to support those who may not have been able to otherwise gain access to HE.

32 UCAS tariff points at a minimum of GCE AS level. For subjects in Accounting and Finance, a minimum Grade C Maths GCSE is required, IELTS - 5.5 (Minimum of 5.5 in each component)
