The BA Japanese program equips you with advanced skills in both written and spoken Japanese, while also offering insights into classical and modern Japanese culture alongside another discipline.
Covering topics from modern Japanese society, cinema, and pop culture to traditional literature and history, this program welcomes complete beginners as well as those with existing Japanese language skills. Applicants with prior Japanese knowledge must complete a placement test during orientation week to determine their appropriate starting level. Detailed information about these assessments will be provided to admitted students before the academic year begins.
Participants will enhance their language abilities and cultural understanding during a mandatory third-year immersion in Japan.
