This program offers advanced study of German and Spanish through research-focused instruction, enabling students to explore how knowledge is developed, expanded, and revitalized. It fosters independent learning among all participants, emphasizing curiosity, integrity, precision, and academic rigor. Spanning 48 months, the curriculum leads to a Master of Arts (Honours) degree. Like all St Andrews programs, it consists of credit-based modules, requiring students to complete 480 credits total—typically 120 per academic year. The initial two years combine mandatory program-specific courses with elective options (sometimes including interdisciplinary Faculty selections). The final years deliver specialized, research-driven education through tailored advanced modules. The first two years blend core program requirements with diverse elective choices (potentially spanning multiple Faculties), while the latter years focus on discipline-specific advanced studies through research-oriented coursework.
