In the MA in Screenwriting for Television and Film (in Retreat) program, you'll explore writing for both feature films and television, along with emerging formats like web dramas. You'll generate multiple concepts before progressing to create outlines for films and TV shows, followed by drafting a feature-length screenplay, a standalone TV drama, or a series bible with accompanying episodes.
Starting each September, instruction combines intensive writing retreats with remote learning methods such as Skype sessions and our Moodle platform. The one-year full-time program features four week-long residential retreats, primarily held at our scenic Egham Campus near Windsor, with some sessions in Central London. This format fosters a creative environment ideal for focused learning and collaborative work, with the Development Lab serving as a key component where you'll share works-in-progress for critique and experiment with collaborative writing.
