A transformative approach to understanding global literature and its interconnections.
Move past traditional Euro-American literary boundaries and reconsider what defines a classic. The MA Comparative Literature program offers the chance to examine works from African and Asian traditions. Addressing timeless themes through diverse cultural lenses, you'll investigate literature's role across societies and cultures.
At SOAS, learners will draw on faculty specialists' regional knowledge, engaging with texts both in English and translated from African and Asian languages.
All participants have the option to include language study in their program, with choices including Arabic, Turkish, Hindi, Swahili, Yoruba, Japanese, Korean, among others. No prior African or Asian language proficiency is needed for MA Comparative Literature admission.
Pursue your studies at SOAS to develop distinctive insights into literature beyond Western frameworks.
