Queen’s University offers a stimulating PhD in Public Policy program that combines independent research with guidance from an experienced team of academic experts.
Housed within the School of History, Anthropology, Philosophy and Politics, this program fosters creative, critical approaches to addressing contemporary challenges faced by societies and governments worldwide.
Our School maintains a strong international perspective, evident through our global partnerships and diverse community of staff and students. Regular visits by international scholars and a vibrant research environment expose students to worldwide policy discussions.
As part of Queen’s new Centre for Public Policy and Administration (CPPA), PhD candidates collaborate with Centre Fellows, gaining access to valuable global networks. The program includes first-year coursework from the MSc in International Public Policy curriculum, including research methods training.

The minimum academic requirement for admission to a research degree programme is normally an Upper Second Class Honours degree from a UK or ROI HE provider, or an equivalent qualification acceptable to the University.
 
Evidence of an IELTS* score of 6.5, with not less than 5.5 in any component, or an equivalent qualification acceptable to the University is required (*taken within the last 2 years).
TOEFL iBT* (Internet based test or iBT Special Home Edition) - 90 with minimum marks as follows:  Listening - 17, Reading - 18, Speaking - 20, Writing - 17.
