This collaborative interdisciplinary program prepares students to analyze both historical and current social structures, cultural distinctions, forms of inequality, and societal transformations across various cultures. Anthropology explores the rich tapestry of human cultures worldwide. As an anthropology student, you'll examine how communities structure their lives and conceptualize aspects like kinship, belief systems, creative expression, and economic systems - developing competencies highly valued in our interconnected, technology-driven era. Through academic coursework, potential internships, and hands-on ethnographic research, you'll cultivate essential abilities in analytical reasoning, intercultural awareness, investigation techniques, communication, and public speaking.
History illuminates contemporary society by tracing the evolution of concepts such as gender, race, social hierarchy, belief systems, governance, imperialism, and economic systems through different eras. Our history faculty explore periods spanning ancient Rome, medieval times, the Renaissance, the Reformation, and modern revolutionary movements across Europe, the Americas, Africa, and Asia to contextualize present-day realities. From their initial year, we empower our students to chart their own academic journey through these diverse historical landscapes. Beginning in your first year, you'll benefit from intimate seminar-style instruction with specialist historians. Our chronological breadth, global perspective, student-centered approach to learning, and emphasis on small-group teaching from the outset distinguish our program among comparable institutions.
