This Master's program is tailored for science graduates aiming to build a career in bioengineering. Gain expertise in applying conventional engineering approaches to solve healthcare challenges in diagnostics and therapy. Our curriculum provides a solid foundation in biomedical engineering principles, followed by opportunities to focus on specialized domains.Engage with cutting-edge bioengineering research at a prestigious UK institution. Access our state-of-the-art facilities and dedicated research centers, featuring specialized labs for biofluid dynamics, mechanobiology, and the renowned Organs-on-Chips Centre. The program holds professional accreditation from both IOM3 (Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining) and IMechE (Institution of Mechanical Engineers).Program OverviewThis course prepares students with essential competencies for biomedical engineering careers. Core modules cover urological biomedical engineering alongside ethics and regulatory compliance. Our optional 'Essential Mathematics Skills for Engineers' module (non-credit bearing) ensures proficiency in mathematical techniques used for structural design, performance analysis, and system optimization.Students can customize their studies by selecting elective modules across various disciplines such as electronics, medical robotics, nanomedicine, sensor technology, and clinical measurement techniques. The program culminates with an extensive independent research project, conducted using our advanced facilities including high-performance computing resources and specialized laboratory spaces.Accreditation DetailsOur Biomedical Engineering (Conversion) MSc holds dual accreditation from the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining (IOM3) and the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, authorized by the UK's Engineering Council. This accredited degree partially fulfills the academic requirements for Chartered Engineer (CEng) status. Graduates with both this MSc and a CEng-accredited BEng(Hons) automatically meet the educational criteria for CEng registration. Those without an accredited bachelor's degree may pursue CEng status through the accrediting bodies' Individual Case Procedure for qualification assessment.
