The Fine Art/Art History doctoral programs at Newcastle encompass:

You'll pursue independent creative work and study, supported by our academic advisors. This guidance may extend to specialists from other university departments when beneficial.
For practice-based PhD candidates, the requirements include developing a portfolio of original artwork accompanied by a written component of 20,000 to 40,000 words.
A text-only PhD in Fine Art or Art History requires a dissertation ranging from 80,000 to 100,000 words.
Both PhD formats must demonstrate innovative thinking and meet publication standards.
