The Westminster School of Arts hosts the Centre for Research and Education in Art and Media (CREAM), recognized as one of the UK's most accomplished and prestigious arts research hubs. During the 2014 Research Exercise Framework, CREAM received top marks among all institutions for diverse art and design research, with 45% of its work classified as world-class and 63% rated as having world-leading impact.
CREAM's research spans multiple fields including ceramics, visual arts, photography, film, experimental media, music, and fashion. With 30 researchers and more than 50 PhD candidates, it stands as London's foremost research center for visual and media arts, design, and music, ranking among the UK's top six institutions. Nearly 50% of CREAM's doctoral students pursue practice-based programs.
By joining CREAM as a doctoral researcher, you'll engage in a dynamic schedule of seminars, guest lectures, and innovative conferences organized in partnership with other institutions. CREAM has played a pivotal role in shaping discussions around practice-based research in audio-visual media and was a co-founder of the AHRC-supported AVPhD initiative.
