This program includes a year of practical planning experience, giving you hands-on work exposure and setting you on track toward becoming a Chartered Town Planner. Newcastle serves as an ideal real-world classroom for planning students. The city's industrial evolution and recent cultural revival have transformed it into a dynamic 'living lab' for research and learning. For the first three years, you'll follow the same curriculum as our Urban Planning BA Honours degree, building a solid foundation in planning systems, urban design, heritage conservation, housing strategies, and more. In your final year, you can choose to focus on either planning/regeneration or environmental planning. You'll explore compelling subjects like design principles, eco-friendly development, and housing policies, while engaging in field visits and practical projects to observe planning concepts in real-world applications.

We prioritize your career readiness with dedicated employment support throughout your studies. Should you opt to switch to the Masters of Planning (MPlan) program, we'll assist in finding placements across various planning sectors where you can implement your knowledge. This practical component forms a vital part of reflective learning that informs your final year. Our acclaimed Careers Service ranks among the nation's top resources, with excellent industry connections. Through our ncl program, we offer all students wide-ranging professional development opportunities.
