The BSc (Hons) Criminology and Sociology program provides a dynamic blend of two contemporary fields of study. Designed for students passionate about both subjects, it explores criminal behavior, its origins, trends, impacts, and societal reactions within broader social frameworks. The initial year establishes foundational knowledge in both disciplines, covering essential theories, social inequalities, justice systems, crime policies, and modern developments like digital culture. Over the first two years, students gain comprehensive research training, preparing them for their final-year independent research project. Our diverse academic department prioritizes specialized study options, allowing students to focus on particular criminology and sociology topics. The program emphasizes career-ready skills development through practical experiences like internships, international study options, and individual projects. In the final year, students can continue with the general degree or select a specialization pathway leading to focused qualifications in: Justice Studies, Quantitative Methods, or Global Youth Justice. Graduates pursue diverse careers across criminal justice sectors (police, corrections, private security), social services (probation, housing, family support), government administration, or nonprofit organizations. Many alumni continue their education through our postgraduate offerings, including practitioner-led MA Applied Criminology, policy-focused MPA and MSc programs, or digital society studies with specializations in sociology and politics.
