Why choose this program? This undergraduate degree allows you to explore Criminology and Social Policy through an interdisciplinary social sciences lens. The curriculum integrates Criminology, which examines crime patterns, victim experiences, and societal responses to criminal behavior, with Social Policy, analyzing how communities address human needs and enhance collective welfare. Instruction incorporates diverse social science viewpoints, enabling you to examine crime through sociological and political frameworks while engaging with fundamental social policy questions: how we define essential needs and determine responsibility for meeting them. Academic approach and evaluationWithin the School of Social Sciences, you'll be taught by leading researchers who are advancing their respective fields. Our curriculum covers both foundational theories and current discussions, innovations, and studies. The teaching approach blends traditional lectures, interactive seminars, self-guided study, and digital learning resources, incorporating both individual assignments and group projects. Lectures typically outline key subjects, introduce fundamental concepts or research findings, and highlight modern challenges or controversies. Many lectures are now available as recordings. Seminars complement lectures by facilitating in-depth analysis of specific materials, studies, or themes. These sessions help reinforce your knowledge while providing personalized feedback, while also developing your abilities in communication, presentation, and teamwork through collaborative discussions and activities.
A level - ABB-BBC. Must include Maths. International Baccalaureate - 32-30 overall or 665-655 in 3 HL subjects. Must include grade 5 in HL Maths. You must have: English language or Welsh language at GCSE grade C/4 or an equivalent (such as A-levels). If you require a Student visa, you must ensure your language qualification complies with UKVI requirements. We do not accept Critical Thinking, General Studies, Citizenship Studies, or other similar equivalent subjects. We will accept a combination of BTEC subjects, A-levels, and other qualifications, subject to the course specific grade and subject requirements. IELTS (academic) At least 6.5 overall with a minimum of 5.5 in each subskill. TOEFL iBT At least 90 overall with minimum scores of 17 for writing, 17 for listening, 18 for reading and 20 for speaking.
