Loughborough's Liberal Arts program provides a distinctive interdisciplinary approach to understanding humanity, examining how social, cultural, economic, and political factors shape our world both historically and today. This degree encourages innovative thinking across disciplines while addressing pressing global issues.
The program balances customization with academic depth. Students can select complementary modules from various fields within the School of Social Sciences and Humanities, such as Art History, English, History, Modern Languages, Philosophy, Political Science, and Sociology. These thoughtfully designed options create interdisciplinary links, allowing students to personalize their studies while developing expertise in specific themes - all without requiring a traditional Major. Modern Languages are available throughout the program, accommodating everyone from absolute beginners to advanced learners.
Cross-disciplinary learning forms the foundation of our Liberal Arts curriculum. Core modules at each level help students synthesize knowledge from different subjects, producing sophisticated interdisciplinary perspectives.
Graduates develop valuable professional skills including analytical reasoning, independent evaluation, and collaborative problem-solving - all highly prized by employers. The optional placement year provides practical experience in relevant fields, giving graduates a competitive edge in the job market.
