Our four-year BA Liberal Arts program (including a foundation year) is designed to build your subject expertise and enhance your academic abilities. The foundation year (Year Zero) provides comprehensive preparation, equipping you for three subsequent years of undergraduate study at Essex. For those interested, our five-year option includes a study abroad opportunity in the fourth year.
Upon completing Year Zero through our Essex Pathways Department, you'll advance to the School of Philosophical, Historical and Interdisciplinary Studies to finish your degree.
This BA Liberal Arts program at Essex offers interdisciplinary exploration across multiple fields. You can specialize in History, Literature, Art History, Philosophy, Politics, Media Studies, or Sociology, gaining broad perspectives on how humanities and social sciences foster creative, critical thinking about contemporary issues.
