A PhD program focuses entirely on research. Each doctoral project involves creating original research under the supervision of at least two faculty members specializing in your field.
You can undertake PhD research in any University-approved discipline where expert supervision exists. Interdisciplinary projects are encouraged. The University offers structured research support with regular progress reviews. Distance learning PhD options are available through London Met.
Earning a PhD requires contributing new knowledge to your field. This demands comprehensive understanding of existing literature and strong analytical abilities to evaluate research findings. Successful candidates must demonstrate self-discipline and commit significant time to their studies.
While the program has no formal coursework, you'll receive research methodology training and may audit relevant master's level classes. You can simultaneously pursue a Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education Teaching.
