Build the essential skills needed to pursue your aspirations of becoming a professional musician. Unlock your creative potential in modern music production while enhancing your live performance capabilities. Your program will focus on four key areas: performance (both solo and ensemble), songwriting and arrangement, technical production, and music theory studies. Collaborate with peers and instructors in both studio environments and live performance spaces, creating a professional portfolio to advance your musical career. Partner with music production students in recording studios while gaining real-world experience at live venues. Benefit from exclusive workshops and networking opportunities through our partnerships with JAMES (Joint Audio Media Education Support) and the Music Producers Guild. Throughout your studies, you'll have opportunities to perform at Leeds' vibrant music venues. Past students have showcased their talents at major events like the Live at Leeds festival, which draws crowds to venues across the city annually. You'll also have unique chances to learn from renowned artists and producers. Our faculty includes industry veterans like Senior Lecturer Ken Scott, whose five-decade career includes work with legendary acts like The Beatles and David Bowie. In 2016, our students gained hands-on experience at the Audio & Radio Industry Awards, interacting with artists including Kaiser Chiefs and Gregory Porter. Academic Approach Independent learning forms the foundation of university education, requiring dedicated hours for research, reading, and assignment preparation. Your structured curriculum, delivered through specialized modules, helps develop effective time management and study habits. Beyond scheduled classes, comprehensive support services are available, including subject-specialist librarians guiding you to academic resources and personalized guidance from your assigned academic advisor. Career Opportunities This career-focused program helps establish industry connections and launch your music profession. Through extensive studio and stage experience, you'll refine both production and performance abilities.
