At Lancaster, our philosophy department embraces diverse perspectives and actively seeks interdisciplinary connections and partnerships. Our supervision spans numerous philosophical fields, with faculty expertise covering areas like consciousness studies, moral philosophy (both theoretical and practical), continental philosophy after Kant, and biomedical ethics. We maintain strong collaborative ties with neighboring departments and research institutes, occasionally facilitating co-supervised projects.
Doctoral candidates in our philosophy program receive comprehensive guidance from their assigned supervisors and other faculty members. We foster an engaged research culture where postgraduate students can present their work, join discussion groups, attend research seminars with guest speakers, participate in professional development workshops, and contribute to academic conferences.
