Lancaster Medical School operates under Lancaster University, a prestigious and innovative institution. Our medical training program began in 2006 through a partnership with the University of Liverpool, and we've been running independently since 2012.
Despite recent expansions in MBChB placements, we maintain our status as one of the UK's more intimate medical schools. This smaller scale enables us to deliver personalized education within a nurturing academic community.
Medical studies bring various academic and personal challenges. We've established an extensive support system, combining formal and informal resources, to assist students in adapting to university life and succeeding throughout their clinical education.
Our Medicine and Surgery with a Gateway Year serves as an alternative entry route for students facing specific disadvantages when applying to our standard 5-year MBChB program. This intensive foundation year covers essential medical sciences and qualifies successful students to advance to Year One of our main Medicine and Surgery degree. Visit our course pages for full details.
The information below outlines the curriculum of our 5-year MBChB Medicine and Surgery program, which Gateway Year students may join after satisfactory completion of their preliminary studies.
