This program merges the scientific exploration of human cognition and behavior with practical Chinese language skills and cultural understanding, complemented by an exceptional international experience to equip you for a successful global career.
The curriculum provides comprehensive training in psychological principles while building the competencies needed for an International Placement Year in a Chinese-speaking environment. Over four years, you'll benefit from the combined expertise of two specialized departments: Languages and Cultures alongside Psychology.
Your foundational year introduces core concepts through introductory modules, teaching you to analyze psychological theories, critically assess research literature, and formulate structured arguments. Simultaneously, you'll undertake Chinese language instruction at either beginner or advanced levels while examining the language within its cultural framework.

Required Subjects A level Chinese, or if this is to be studied from beginners level, AS grade B or A level grade B in another foreign language, or GCSE grade A or 7 in a foreign language. Native Mandarin speakers will not be accepted onto this scheme.
GCSE Mathematics grade B or 6 (Applicants with a GCSE Maths C or 5 considered on a case-by-case basis)
IELTS 6.5 overall with at least 5.5 in each component. TOEFL IBT - 87 overall, minimum of 17 in listening, 18 in reading, 17 in speaking and 20 in writing. Cambridge English: Advanced CAE 176 overall with at least 162 in each element.
