The PGCE in Geography program at King's provides students with both hands-on and conceptual approaches to Geography education, demonstrating effective classroom teaching methods. The 120-credit program combines university-based and in-school training in pedagogy, professional development, and subject-specific teaching methods. Graduates qualify as subject teachers with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), prepared to actively contribute to school communities.Career prospectsMost graduates enter teaching or education-related fields, with many advancing to department leadership or senior administrative roles, while others pursue careers in educational policy, advisory services, or inspection.
Standard requirements: A minimum 2:2 undergraduate Bachelor’s (honours) degree. If you have a lower degree classification, or a degree in an unrelated subject, your application may be considered if you can demonstrate significant relevant work experience, or offer a related graduate qualification (such as a Masters or PGDip).
Programme-Specific Requirements. Our PGCE programmes all require a minimum of: Bachelor's degree with at least 2:2 honours usually in the subject you wish to teach. Knowledge and understanding of the subject you intend to teach. GCSE grade C or above (or an equivalent qualification) in English language and mathematics. Applicants without these English or mathematics qualifications at the time they apply may be considered, but they must obtain them, or pass an equivalent test approved by King's, before the course starts. Overseas students will be required to demonstrate IELTS of 7.0 overall with a minimum of 6.5 in each skill. TOEFL IBT 100 overall with a minimum of 25 in writing and 23  in each of the other skills.
