Our Drug Development Science program is one of three specialized MSc courses in pharmaceutical medicine, tailored for professionals currently employed in or aspiring to enter drug development sectors such as pharmaceutical firms, contract research organizations, and regulatory agencies. This highly adaptable program equips students with comprehensive knowledge and practical skills across all stages of medicine development, from preclinical research and clinical trials to regulatory affairs and pharmacovigilance. Our Drug Development Science MSc provides the expertise to oversee development projects and make crucial decisions throughout the medicinal product lifecycle. The program benefits both industry professionals seeking leadership roles and clinical/scientific specialists transitioning into this field. Through advanced postgraduate modules, students engage with world-renowned scientists and clinicians who have brought active compounds to market. Each module combines current best practices with hands-on, problem-based learning exercises. The 180-credit MSc program includes a 60-credit dissertation (8,000-10,000 words). Full-time students complete the program in one academic year (September-September), while part-time students have up to six years to finish.
A medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) or a 2:1 first degree in pharmacy, pharmacology, biology, biochemistry, chemistry or related subject, or overseas equivalent. Applicants without a degree but with relevant experience will be considered on an individual basis. Employment within a relevant industrial environment would be advantageous but is not essential. We will require one satisfactory reference. If you have completed your degree in the last three years, this should be an academic reference. Overseas students will be required to demonstrate IELTS (Academic): 6.5 overall with a minimum of 6.0 in each skill and TOEFL iBT: 92 overall with a minimum of 23 in writing and 20 in each of the other skills.
