The Department of Classics offers specialized knowledge in these key areas: Contemporary Greek literature and cultural studies, 19th-20th century Greek historical research, Byzantine archaeology and architectural heritage, Cypriot history spanning Late Antiquity through the Renaissance, and Early Christian/Late Antique religious and literary studies. The Department is home to the Centre of Hellenic Studies, which connects King's scholars researching diverse aspects of Greek civilization. The CHS coordinates public programming (including yearly lectures, global conferences, and academic workshops) and partners with leading organizations (such as the British School at Athens, The Anglo-Hellenic League, the Society for Modern Greek Studies, and the Hellenic Foundation for Culture) to advance comprehensive Hellenic scholarship.
