The MSc in Mental Health Nursing equips nurses to base their practice on cutting-edge evidence while mastering advanced interpersonal and clinical skills within a values-driven framework focused on recovery. With growing societal awareness of mental health, we train students to support individuals across all age groups experiencing various mental health challenges in multiple environments. This accelerated two-year MSc Nursing graduate entry program is ideal for driven graduates with care experience seeking both nursing registration and a master's degree.
In response to the Nursing and Midwifery Council's (NMC) updated standards emphasizing equal importance of mental and physical healthcare (NMC, 2018a), our mental health nursing specialization addresses the concerning life expectancy gap for those with mental health conditions (DH, 2011; Nash, 2010). We cultivate culturally aware, confident nurses capable of collaborative work with patients, families, and communities.
Over two years, the program enhances academic capabilities, professional accountability, and advanced patient care competencies. Graduates will satisfy all Nursing and Midwifery Council registration requirements upon completing this forward-thinking curriculum.
Aligned with NMC's "Future Nurse: Standards of Proficiency for Registered Nurses" (2018a), the program covers the full spectrum of knowledge, clinical expertise, and leadership expected of registered nurses. It meets Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education standards (2018; 2021) while tackling modern healthcare challenges highlighted in "NHS in England at 75: priorities for the future" (NHS, 2023), preparing practitioners for real-world clinical demands.
