Our Structures research focus area possesses extensive knowledge in both deterministic and probabilistic numerical modeling, experimental testing, and theoretical studies across diverse structural materials, with special emphasis on concrete structures, reliability analysis, and life-cycle cost evaluation. This work receives funding from governmental agencies and private industry partners.
Specialists in structural concrete within our team have capabilities and research interests spanning: non-destructive testing methods, creation of analytical and computational models for concrete degradation under stress and harsh conditions, impact of deterioration on structural integrity and performance, as well as rehabilitation and reinforcement techniques. These investigations form the foundation for creating comprehensive lifecycle management approaches for concrete infrastructure. Our concrete research has secured funding from European Union programs and BT Openreach. Strong connections exist between this research and durability studies conducted by our Construction Materials and GeoMechanics Group.
